Trader Donnie!  How ya doing?!!  Pete Chiarelli’s contract that he gave Reilly Smith (and ultimately got him fired) is gone.  In return the Boston Bruins pick up Massachusetts native and all around monster Jimmy Hayes.

What a day Donnie.  What a day.  Jimmy brings the size and thunder and popped in close to 20 goals last year, one which effectively ended the Bruins playoffs hopes.  Mr. Smith however popped in a whopping 1 goal after he signed his contract extension.  And don’t get me wrong, I like Reilly Smith but his contract didn’t fit the results.  This is the exact cap freedom the Bruins are in need of.  I’m a huge fan of bringing home the 6’6″ Boston College standout. While we’re at it… Sweeney tossed in Savard’s $4 million cap hit as well that the Florida Panthers will take on (although they only have to pay $575,000 of it).  I’m not even 4 Pabst Blue Ribbons into this rodeo and we still have to touch on the Beleskey signing.  What a day for The Don!  Stay tuned…
