Yesterday the Boston Bruins put goaltender Jeremy Smith and forward Max Talbot on waivers.  Any NHL team could have scooped them up off the Bruins roster. No one bit.

Today both players cleared waivers meaning they’ll remain with the Bruins (for now). Jeremy Smith is being sent down to AHL Providence where they’ll have to sort out the overload of goalies on that team.  Max Talbot is the unknown.  He’s vying for a fourth line/penalty killing role for the Black n’ Gold.  However, with acquisitions of Joonas Kemppainen and Zac Rinaldo this summer, along with the strong camp performance by Bruins 2009 draft pick Tyler Randell, Talbot is being squeezed out of a job. We’ll have to wait and see where this all leads.

As for some good news, Zdeno Chara was leading practice today as well and is still considered day-to-day with an upper body injury.  Still no confirmation if he’ll be in the lineup Thursday night.

More to come soon…
