(NHL.com) – With Rask not practicing (Monday), the Bruins recalled Malcolm Subban from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis. Zane McIntyre had been assigned on Sunday after serving as Anton Khudobin’s backup for Saturday’s game against Montreal. Early in practice, Khudobin left the ice with an injury, so Subban served as the lone goaltender. A blue plastic shooter tutor covered the net at the opposing end.
No Tom Brady? No problem.
No Tuukka Rask? 0-2 with Anton Khudobin and who the hell knows what we’ll get from Malcolm Subban tonight. No big deal.
I haven’t seen a tutor shooter in an NHL game yet but I have seen Malcolm Subban in one. Unfortunately, this is how I remember it going for him:
That’s T. J. Oshie giving him some no nonsense “on the job training”. What a cannon.
With Malcolm Subban going in net and Zane McIntyre backing up the B’s could be in for some fireworks at home against the Minnesota Wild tonight. And now that we know the Khudobin injury will keep him out about 3 weeks it’ll most likely be this goalie duo tomorrow when the B’s visit the Rangers and beyond. We’re just not sure how many days are needed in Tuukka’s day-to-day injury. This is an awfully similar situation to two seasons ago when the Bruins had no viable backup option and were forced to throw Subban to the wolves against St. Louis. Where’s Jonas Gustavsson when you need him?
I need Subban to play out of his mind tonight to make all of this even nuttier.
