Big game tonight, people. Big game. The B’s are coming off a real nice 2-1 overtime win Sunday against the San Jose Sharks and are looking to keep their 5-game win streak running hot against the Ducks in Anaheim.

So to hold you over until the live action tonight we’ve got some great Bruins porn to get you pumped up. This time it’s a Peter Cehlarik highlight package from his efforts against the Sharks.

First of all, this is a great video put together by Twitter user @dafoomie, one of the real hockey heroes of the interwebs. His YouTube channel has plenty of other gems for you to enjoy so I suggest you check it out.

This particular highlight package of Cehlarik is a reminder that #83 was inches from having a 3-4 point game Sunday. There were stretch passes to Pasta, strip poke checks on the D leading to attacks, picking pucks out of mid-air then attacking. He was doing it all.

But there are two real treats that stand out the most in this video. One at 1:24, where Cehlarik is positioning himself perfectly to defend the Sharks breakout. When he eventually receives the puck from David Krejci, all in one motion he sets up Pasta for a tap in attempt that narrowly misses. Having the sense to defend properly, to anticipate and execute an immediate transition to offense, and knowing where to go with the puck is such a joy to watch.

And of course there’s his circus pass highlight at 1:37 to Pastrnak on the far wing. Holy hell. The defenseman on the play looks like The Professor just crossed him up on an And-1 mix tape. It’s laugh out loud impressive. There’s not much else you can say about that pass other than be convinced Cehlarik has a second set of eyes somewhere in his head.

At the end of the day you have to hope Cehlarik’s remarkable first impression in the NHL has eased some of Don Sweeney’s temptations, if he has any, to make a Lee Stempniak type of top-6 forward rental trade at the deadline.

The Bruins will need Cehlarik’s second set of eyes to be ready to go tonight against the Ducks with Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and the New York Islanders all having won yesterday. The race for a playoff spot is officially as tight as it can get.

And if Cehlarik’s highlights didn’t do it for you then make sure to pick up an exta sixer of Seagram’s wine coolers on the way home from work today. You’ll need some sort of buzz to get you to the late 10:30pm EST puck drop tonight.
