Ahhh, a nice mid-week game in California. It’s always great being up until 1am watching hockey. No joke. I get to put the kid to bed, watch Rangers vs. Blackhawks, and then watch the B’s?! I won’t feel the slightest guilt as I stroll into the office at the wee early hour of 10am tomorrow. I might even have a little swagger depending on the outcome.
Ok, so as we know the B’s have some key guys out. Just under $26 million in payroll out to be exact. To me, this year is about the kids coming up anyway so I expect the boys to play a solid 60 minutes regardless as Cassidy figures out where they all fit within lineup in these injury depleted situations. You just gotta roll up those sleeves and work it, boys.
As for the #BeerForTheGame, I have a fairly decent sized beer cellar and I save those beers for parties or beer gatherings, but I don’t have any friggin’ time for parties or beer gatherings. So I’m going to the cellar tonight! The winner? The 2014 Firestone Walker Sucaba.
Firestone Walkers’ Barrel Series is one of the best in the world and I’m lucky enough to have a colleague that lives 2 miles from the BarrelWorks facility, so I can get my fill when I have beers to trade.
Sucaba is an english barleywine at 12.5% ABV and it’s aged in bourbon barrels for one year. It’s a great sipping drink, coats the mouth, goes down without a big alcohol burn, and has a group of really well balanced flavor combo of chocolate and tobacco, and hints of vanilla and dark cherries. It’s also got a great bouquet of oak and bourbon that’ll get you excited for that first sip.
I’m going to drink this nice and slow and really enjoy this one. Two hockey games, a great beer, the kids asleep without a fight, the wife just made a nice dinner. Life is good tonight. Let’s hope the B’s bring it home and make it a prefect night.
