The Bruins west coast tour rolls on tonight which means I get to watch hockey and have a nice beer once again. Back-to-back’s don’t bother this guy.
Yet after listening to Felger & Mazz tonight on the ride home from the office I’m a bit frustrated. Shocking, right?
For one, they talk a lot about basketball. A ton actually. And as great as the Celtics are I could care less. I’m all for Boston teams doing well but even with a water gun to my head you couldn’t pay me to watch the NBA. It’s just not my thing.
The other, and true source of my frustration, was that a couple B’s fans called in and said they couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes of last nights game. Sure, the Bruins started out slow and you could count the attendance on one hand, but if they tried taking their fairweather pink hats off they would’ve seen some entertaining hockey:
The B’s didn’t win but I thought the effort was worthy of watching and I appreciate what the kids are trying to accomplish shorthanded. In the long run they’ll benefit.
So as we head into tonight’s tilt let’s talk about the big decision of the night, something opposite of frustrating. How about tonight’s #BeerForTheGame?
I enjoyed the shit out of the 3 year old barleywine I selected last night but I’m going to go a little lighter tonight. Tonight I’m going with La Vermontoise, a farmhouse saison collaboration from Brasserie be Blaugies and THE Hill Farmstead.
This gem might as well be poured into a champagne flute. It’s got a glowing yellow color and smells great with a little lemony barnyard funk. The yeast is a bit lively so if you have a bottle, be sure to let it settle in the fridge for a day before you open this John.
At a pleasant 6% it’s good to have only chilled one bottle because I could stick out my pinkie, raise my nose, and crush 3 of these easily. I might even go put on a sweater vest and really play this one out while I sip and watch optimistically. If you get a chance to pick one of these up, do it. You’ll love it.
