Hey beer friends! It’s been a little while but that just means it’s time to get ready to crack open my #BeerForTheGame tonight as the Bruins faceoff against Columbus.
The B’s are 6-4 in their last ten, including a big 2 points against Tampa last week. Even though the recent stretch has produced an average record (thank you, Washington and New York) I’m feeling pretty optimistic tonight. They have a pretty tough grind ahead on the schedule from here through Christmas, so I’m looking for a solid 60 minute effort to start this run tonight.
Now, as some of you may know I co-own a brewery in Connecticut. My business partner (and master brewer) Luke and I have worked hard to make a lot of different styles of beer instead of going heavy on the hyped up IPA’s like Treehouse and Trillium. But tonight’s brew is in that wheelhouse. And it’s also the first beer recipe I’ve ever created.
My love for Citra hops grows every time I have any beer that features this wonderful hop so I loaded tonight’s #BeerForTheGame up with as much as I could towards the end of the boil to get all that wonderful citrus, melon, passion fruit, and awesome tropical notes.
Here it is, my beer for the game is @30MileBrewingCo’s “Baby Fight Club”. As mentioned above, it’s jam packed with Citra hops (one of my very favorite hops. Think Sip of Sunshine from Lawson).
A smooth mouth feel and a very low and clean bitterness rounds out this American IPA that weighs in at 7.1% ABV. That makes this #BeerForTheGame a 2-a-night beer for me. Cold and fresh is clearly the way to drink IPA’s, but I find the way to really explore all the flavor offerings of a juicy IPA is to slowly sip and let it warm a tad to let it open up a bit.
I really like to hear what you all are opening up for each Bruins game and tonight’s tilt is no different. So hit us up at @BostonPucks and don’t forget to tag me (@30MileDevon) and use that beautiful hashtag #BeerForTheGame. What are you drinking?
