It’s been far too long since I’ve shared my #BeerForTheGame, the B’s are 6-1 when I do, and with Charlie Mac Attack ‘Chuckie Bright Lights’ McTruckAvoy out tonight we could use this boost.
So here we go…
We have the Devils in the Garden this evening as the B’s look to carry on at their current fantastic pace. The Bruins have fared well against the Devils in recent years, including an 11 round shootout victory back in November. And again, the B’s are rockin’ with points on points on points just piling up.
Obviously the main story going into tonight is the B’s missing McAvoy due to a recent heart procedure. I’m sure I can speak for all of us in wishing him the very best in his recovery. We all saw on live TV what can happen when there are no warning signs, when Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench during a game in Dallas, and heart issues aren’t to be taken lightly. So it’s nice to see McAvoy being proactive in this situation regardless of the severity of the condition.
I remember watching that Peverly Stars game in pure horror. Thankfully the NHL employs some of the best emergency medical staff, as we’ve all witnessed in some other pretty scary moments (i.e. Clint Malarchuk and Richard Zednik) and for that I’m going pop open one of the nicest bottles I have and raise a glass to those fine men and women tonight.
So… what is this beer I’m having? Well, it’s from my favorite brewery in the world, and it’s one of my favorite beers in the world, Firestone Walker’s 2014 Rye Double DBA.
I’m not a fan of ESB’s (Extra Special Bitter) but this Imperial Special Bitter is plain killer. Smooth as smooth can be, pleasant caramel, toffee, and vanilla tones, and low alcohol burn (I had one last year and it was still a bit boozy). All that mixed well with the rye whiskey and oak for an awesome drink. I’ll be sipping on this sum’bitch all game long, savoring every drop.
Cheers, and let’s go B’s!
